Release What’s Been Heavy

When something old has sat too long in your chest, when you’re carrying what isn’t yours anymore, or when you’re ready to stop looking backwards.

— The Ritual —

1. Write the thing you’re ready to put down. One line only. No essays.

2. Fold the paper away from you (symbolic release).

3. If using fire: burn it safely on a fire proof dish, away from flammable objects and let the ashes go.

4. If using water: tear it up and let running water take the pieces.

5. Say: “What leaves me frees me.”

6. Step away from the spot without looking back.

— Closing the Circle —

Walk three steps forward after disposing of the paper. Don’t look back.

— A Deeper Note —

Writing externalises emotion. Folding paper away from you reinforces release. Fire transforms; water dissolves. Both complete the psychological loop of letting go, giving the body permission to follow.
