convallaria is useful for heart failure due to coronary or pulmonary disorders and for age related cardiac insufficiency it improves the efficiency of heart muscle contraction so that more power is achieved for the same energy use by the muscle cells its action is similar to digitalis glycosides but much less cumulative as the cardiac glycosides of convallaria majalis do not accumulate in the body to the same degree
